Eliason takes $10K Challenge
All Stars Media posted Monday January 16, 2017.

In front of a huge crowd at Simpson Speedway Cory Eliason driving for Adam Curry in the USA00 Awesome Landscape/Maxwill Racing Engines KPC picked up his first major win in Australia and collected a cool $10,000 for his efforts.

The low budget young South Australian team arrived in a small van and enclosed trailer with just enough spares to keep them on track if needed but the talented young driver did not require any of them.

The team were pumped at their win which was a huge reward for all their effort. Eliasons track speed was thrilling to watch.

V29 Terry McCarl settled quickly into the Hutchins/Tancredi Motorsport Team and after a few issues early in the night quickly sorted out the gremlins to finish 2nd behind Eliason. McCarl, Tim Van Ginnekin & Greg Hodnett were having a nail biting race in the dying stages of the main between themselves which ended up with Van Ginnekin steeling back 3rd and Hodnett 4th.

Following closely in 5th was young Jordyn Charge in the V60 machine. Charge started back in the main and drove a brilliant race.

Last year’s Challenge winner John Vogels unfortunately ended his night on the infield with a flat right front tire after tagging a spinning Foster. Vogels has been running 2nd for the majority of the race.

Mid markers were having their own race and with the track allowing for some awesome passing. Solomon’s, Milburn, Hunter, Farrer and Parr were swapping positions regularly and treated the crowd some exciting racing. Parr was another to get a flat tire and ended up infield whilst running 4th with only a few laps remaining in the 35 lap event.

With the track in brilliant condition SA75 Chris Solomon shone in the Pole Shoot Out. Starting in Position 6 and working his way through to finish 2nd and allow him to start on the front row of the A.

Solomon’s last 2 laps were against Eliason and he got the start as he had in each one. Ellison pulled him in and the pair were wheel to wheel coming out of turn 2. Eliason finally got the edge and won by a small margin.

Oval Express Magazine Quick Time winner was SA5 Trigga Gates with a 13.308 and in so doing picked up a 12 month subscription of Oval Express Magazine.
